The CIRCALGAE consortium forms a strong platform of experts along the value chain of functional active algae ingredients for high-value markets, from the raw materials to end-users.
The multidisciplinary consortium consists of 22 partners with complementary competencies, 15 industry partners (of which 8 are SMEs and 7 large industries) and 7 RTOs and academics. All these partners pertain to 11 European countries.

Alginor ASA is a Norwegian marine biotech company developing a fully transparent, traceable and integrated value chain for commercial harvesting and biorefining of Laminaria hyperborea for production of kelp-based ingredients for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical applications.

AQUIMER is a cluster specialized in the valorization of aquatic products. The cluster acts at the individual and collaborative levels to help companies, and more broadly, the aquatic products sector to develop and innovate in a perspective of sustainable development. AQUIMER is the leader of the CIRCALGAE communication work package.

Roquette Klötze GmbH & Co. KG
Roquette Klötze GmbH & Co. KG, located in Klötze/Germany, has been one of the pioneers in advanced microalgae farming in industrial scale using photobioreacors consisting of 500 km of glass tubes with a total volume of 600.000 liters since the year 2000. Meanwhile fermenter and pond capacities have also been built to produce about a dozen different microalgae species for very different applications.
SAFE FOOD ADVOCACY EUROPE
SAFE – Safe Food Advocacy Europe was created with the aim of ensuring that consumer health and concerns remain at the core of the EU’s food legislation. SAFE is currently the only Brussels-based NGO specialized in the protection and representation of EU consumers in the food sector.
SAFE strives to ensure safer food standards for consumers by monitoring the EU food legislation process and cooperating with EU stakeholders to draft comprehensive food regulations. SAFE notably supports the development of policies and awareness-raising actions which jointly address health, environment, food safety and sustainability, all-the-while being involved in several EU-funded projects aimed at reducing the environmental impact of the food sector, increasing sustainability and promoting healthier food environments for consumers.
