The 15th of June 2023, we took part in the Wider Caribbean – EU regional conference on sargassum: turning sargassum into an opportunity.
The conference, held in the Dominican Republic, addressed the problem of sargassum, which poses a threat to economic, social and cultural development, with negative effects on marine biodiversity, fishing and tourism activities in the regions of the Wider Caribbean. This problem is all the more important because it is becoming more serious as a result of climate change.
The event was made in presence of the ACS Secretary General, Rodolfo Sabonge.
It was an opportunity to present the CIRCALGAE project with the intention to look for synergies on the sargassum biorefinery for the future.
